FMC Seeks Google Policy Intern!

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Just wanted to let all of you out there in internet-land that FMC is once again seeking a Google Policy Fellow for Summer 2010. Meaning, it could be you who joins us for a wonk-and-music-filled season in DC!

FMC’s prime directive (sounds kinda Star Trek) is advocating for musicians and informing policymakers about the issues that impact artists. We work to ensure that musicians have access to platforms like radio and the internet, enjoy their right to speech, and can benefit from improved structures for compensation. We also keep a close eye on new business models and the tools that musicians are using in the digital age. read more

Invisible In-Ear Bluetooth Headset…what could go wrong?

Monday, November 30th, 2009

This one leaves me practically speechless. Endgadget reports on the newest piece of moronic geekiness from Sky Mall, purveyors of that catalog of pointless money-wasters for people who’ve been on the plane for long enough to impair their judgment and rob them of any shred of common sense. The Micro Bluetooth Spy Earpiece is so small, it fits deep within your ear canal, only inches from your eardrum, and is retrieved using the included “super strong magnet.”

Wow. Even if we overlook the disturbing idea of short-cycle Bluetooth radio waves pulsing away only an inch or so from your brain, is it really a good idea to put anything that tiny deep inside your ear canal…?
