AKG Honored With Technical Grammy Award

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

LOS ANGELES – In recognition of more than 60 years contribution to the art and science of music recording and performance, AKG was recently awarded a technical Grammy award from the National Academy of Recording Arts Sciences (NARAS). The award was presented at Grammy Week in Los Angeles.

AKG microphones and headphones have supported performances ranging from The Beatles' shows in Shea Stadium in 1967 to Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra, to contemporary artists including Jay Z, Missy Elliot and Kayne West.

This year's only other Grammy Technical Award was presented posthumously to Thomas Edison. Harman's JBL brand also earned a Grammy Technical Award in 2005.

Are We Living in “Groundhog Day?”

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

For those of you who watched the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (and apparently there were more of you this year than any year since 2004), you may have had a feeling of déjà vu when you saw virtually the same group of stars that clustered together in 2009, 2008, etc. Does this perhaps remind you — at least a little — of the 1993 film Groundhog Day? You know, like Bill Murray’s character hearing “I Got You Babe” every morning?

Now, if you happen to want to hear the same song at the same time every day, that’s fine with us. But sometimes it’s fun to let the needle find a new groove.

Wireless Comment Deadline Extended to March 1, Winter Weather Cited

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC – The FCC has responded to a request by Shure to extend the deadline for public comments relating to proposed changes in wireless microphone licensing rules by seven days, from Feb. 22 to March 1. The comment period, which would have expired on February 22, now closes on March 1, 2010.
The FCC noted that while requests for extensions are not routinely granted, such extensions are sometimes warranted when the additional time will serve the public interest. The commission agreed with Shure's deadline extension request based in part on the unusually harsh winter weather hitting the Washington D.C. area in recent weeks. The FCC itself was closed for four days from Feb. 8 through Feb. 11 and closed early Feb. 5.
