Are We Living in “Groundhog Day?”

Friday, February 26th, 2010

For those of you who watched the Grammy Awards on Sunday night (and apparently there were more of you this year than any year since 2004), you may have had a feeling of déjà vu when you saw virtually the same group of stars that clustered together in 2009, 2008, etc. Does this perhaps remind you — at least a little — of the 1993 film Groundhog Day? You know, like Bill Murray’s character hearing “I Got You Babe” every morning?

Now, if you happen to want to hear the same song at the same time every day, that’s fine with us. But sometimes it’s fun to let the needle find a new groove.

Southern U. Rebounds from Storm with Turbosound Gear

Friday, February 26th, 2010

BATON ROUGE, LA – Hurricane Gustav might not have flattened A.W. Mumford Stadium, the 29,500-seat sports venue for Southern University and A M College, but it did knock out the sound system – and underscore the importance that an audio system can have to a college sports program.
It seems like a pretty minor issue, but the truth is, losing the revenue generated by a home football game is significant, said Henry L. Thurman III, director of the physical plant for Southern. We had lost the entire sound system from our scoreboard as a result of the storm, and had to get it replaced inside of two weeks' time.

Peavey Versarray, Crest Audio CV-20 on NAMM Wanna Play? Stage

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

ANAHEIM, CA – The Peavey Versarray line-array system was featured on the Wanna Play? Stage during the 2010 NAMM Show, where it provided four days of professional sound reinforcement for bands such as Jive Records artists The Dares and the finalists of the SchoolJam USA national battle of the bands competition.
Located outside the Anaheim Convention Center at the John Lennon Plaza, the Wanna Play? Stage drew crowds from the international NAMM convention's audience of 87,000 attending music retailers, media and musicians. The stage is named after NAMM's Wanna Play? public awareness campaign, which aims to encourage more people to play musical instruments.
