YouTube to Indie Musicians: We Want You

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

At SXSW last week, YouTube unveiled a new opportunity for indie bands called “Musicians Wanted.” According to a recent YouTube post that provides some details about this program (the pitch is made by the members of Pomplamoose), “If you’re a musician, and you want to make a living and do nothing but play music… either get signed or stick with YouTube.”

But what, exactly, is Musician’s Wanted?

Here’s the deal: if you are in an indie band (no signed bands allowed), make a video of one of your songs (and it has to be a video, as opposed to “static images”). Then, as Eliot Van Buskirk mentions in a recent WIRED article, verify that your product “[meets] YouTube’s quality standards for inclusion in the program.”

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's University students have been playing competitive basketball in the Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse since 1949. A multi-million dollar expansion and renovation for the home of the Hawks has resulted in a new name – the Michael J. Hagan Arena – and a new sound system anchored by Community Professional Loudspeakers.
RJC Designs designed the new
system for the 4,200-capacity arena that includes 52 of Community's Solutions-Series
SLS920 horn-loaded systems, arrayed in a distributed cluster configuration,
with 28 VLF212 dual 12-inch subwoofers providing low-frequency punch.
Six Community iBOX i2W8 systems, meanwhile, are used for near-field coverage. The
system is powered by QSC amplification, with a pair of Rane RPM88 processors
providing system DSP.
