Monday, May 31st, 2010

CHICAGO – After scoring a total of 20 Tony and Drama Desk Awards, including Best Sound Design, Billy Elliot, the Musical is dancing its way from Broadway to different U.S. cities via two separate productions. Both productions will be using customized DiGiCo SD7Ts at front of house and substage and SD8s to mix the band's monitors, as specified by sound designer Paul Arditti.
Adapted from the earlier film about a coal miner's son
who has a passion for dancing, Billy Elliot, the Musical
made
its London stage debut in 2005 and premiered on Broadway in 2008. For the
Broadway production, Arditti configured a DiGiCo D5T system from
the ground up with help from associates John Owens (U.K.) and Tony Smolenski
(U.S.), and Masque Sound. For the two new touring productions, Arditti chose the
SD7T / SD8 combination with the guidance of Masque Sound as well as DiGiCo's
product specialist, Dan Page.
