Okay, it’s not eco-tech per se….but it’s technology and it’s one of the coolest applications that’s been released in the recent past. Mashable‘s Ben Parr reports on PhotoSketch, an image recognition software created by five computer science students at Tsinghua University and the National University of Singapore.
The basic premise works like this:
1. Draw the outlines of the figures you want in your picture – anything from seagulls to a Mercedes, whatever.
2. Add labels for each of the items, as well as for the background.

As most of my friends and colleagues know, I spent many years in the music and audio industries. I watched that sector evolve from a nascent pool of cutting-edge start-up companies in garages to the corporate mega-liths they’ve become today.
The secret to that evolution? They learned how to do business. They learned how to market their products. The best product in the world will fail if no one knows about it.
Those companies who figured it out survived and prospered. Those who didn’t are still tinkering away in their garages.
